Trolling with crawler harnesses is new to me. I have trolled twice on LSC and have been using a one ounce bottom bouncer. I set my trolling speed than I put the rig in the water and I can't tell when it hits bottom. Also, sometimes my harness is laying on top of the water behind the boat while trolling. What am I doing wrong.
Thanks,

Try a heavier bouncer and try to keep your speed down to about 1.4 to 1.6 mph.....

sounds like your trolling speed is too high. I agree with mike. with a 1 ounce, you have to have a decent amount of line out to hit bottom in the 14-16' depths most guys are fishing on LSC. I would go with a 2oz. and see how that goes.

I usually don't troll much faster than it takes to spin the spinner on the harness (approx 1 mph) and usually use a 2 or 3 oz sinker. In rough conditions, sometimes 4 oz is required. I run my harness off a 3-way approx 2 feet above the sinker. IMO, most LSC Walleye tend to be on or near the bottom.

Same as John. But in real bad conditions. (when I'm the only one on the lake lol) I'll use 5 oz just to find the bottom? I normally go with 3's and 4's on a 3 way. but have lots of 2's and 5's and 6's . Adjusting your speed on days can get you a cooler full. but most of the time just enough to spin the blades.

i am kinda hard headed when it comes to running bottom bouncers. i run mine with 1oz of lead for every 10' of water. so 1 oz to 10', 2 oz to 20' and so on. i usually run them at .75 to 1 mph. another thing is i always keep at least one of the rods in my hand. my most sensitive rods get used for running fireline down to the bottom bouncers. to me this is a finess type of fishing.
