I was asking around at work and I guess I will answer my own question. My prop is a 10x13. A raise in prop pitch (13+) will lead to great high end speed, whereas a decrease will lead to more power and quicker hole shot. hope this helps someone

higher prop pitch might mean no power at all, most motors depending on what boat and weight they push have the approx size pitch and about the max they will push on them, there is a little more to it than changing a pitch up a size or two. My johnsons should be running 55 to 5600 are PM maxed out, if I put a next size up pitch they will bog the engines, if your engine is running top RPM that it is supposed to going higher will kill it not add speed

If you want more performance stay with the same pitch you have and spring for a stainless steel prop, very expensive but you wont get the flex you do with an alumium or steel prob. I used to have a jet ski and changing to a stainless prop really helped my hole shot and gave me another 4 mph. See no difference why this wont help your boat. Maybe someone here can tell you if they ever switched :yikes:

I switched from a 19" to a 21" on my 115 Mariner on a 19' SeaNymph (Aluninum) It picked up about 3-4 mph on top end but you did notice a reduction in the holeshot. If I replace it again Ill probably go back to the 19"
prop.

Go up one pitch, loose 200 rpm. Go down 1 pitch gain 200 rpm. Add a blade, loose 200 rpm(3 blade to 4 blade)....Need to find the correct prop to get your motor running at highest recommended RPM's for top speed. Normally 3 blades for speed, 4 blades for hole shot and to carry loads.
