Hi all I got lucky this year :D going to hunt on Drummond Island for bear can anybody tell me whats the best type of bugsuite to buy? any advice would sure would be helpful, we have a guide and we are hunting over bait . I will be useing a Freedom arms handgun I think I will use a model 97 in 45 colt if not then one of my 454 casulls (or the one that makes my hand hurt 475Linebaugh) any way a big flat cast bullet will be what I will shoot him with. the guide will not skin the bear, I must learn how to do this. my wife wants a bear rug . again any advice would make my day thanks :help:

Every body down south is raving about this Thermo cell.

If it works as good as they say it would be worth a try.

I have a Shannons Bug Tamer suit works good.

On skinning the bear, wear latex gloves to prevent a nasty infection in case you nick yourself with a knife.

I know people in AK who spent a day or two from infection.

Make sure you have enough salt for the hide before you get one.
Use a sharp knife and a smaller sharp knife around the head and ears.
Caping knives are thin narrow and pointy to get into the areas with good control.

I wonder why your guide won't skin?
Contact a taxidermist now before the hunt and they'll answer all your questions.

Bearskins slip hair really easy in warm weather, don't risk messing up.
BE PREPARED

Meat prep is something you'll also have to take care of right after skinning. There is a guy who will butcher your bear for you just SW of Pickford. He will skin it for you but that costs more. Make arrangements with him on your way by to the ferry.

He is located on Townline Road about 3 miles west of M129 on the north side of the road. His shop is a stand alone building just north of his house. Sorry no number for him.

Good luck.
