And bring back the dryfly fishing TODAY !!!!

This past week has been spotty at best where I fish on the Au Sable mainstream. The best night for the big bugs was Wed. BUT... for some reason lightning and graphite don't mix.

Drakes have been on the water before dark. A trickle of the big bugs at dark. And its done.

Wed things were looking up until the lightning started getting to close. Had the drift boat up on plane getting out. Also had a mix-up at the take-out and somehow put a 8 1/2 ft Carlisle Oar in the water and on its way to Mio Pond. If anyone happens to hear about someone finding one (black plastic, w/ sleeve & oar-right) down there I'd appreciate getting it back. I have its mate!!

Good luck to all and pray to the weather gods for warmer temps !!!

we were pulling our little pontoon boats out when you were pulling out, i like how you pulled your boat out. i was wondering how drift boats dealt with those steps. sorry you lost your oar, im sure someone found it, good luck. i agree about the weather, something has to happen, that same night we had good fish feeding for about 15 minutes then as quick as it started it stopped. had one large fish on then off.

Hey Flyboy... sorry about the language... to say I was frustrated was an understatement. I like fishing that stretch in my tube but I got the driftboat to get a couple more years on the river with my father (his legs and body can't tube any more), who was with me that night. He's 77, got prostate cancer, had a slight stroke, and I try and take care of him when we're out on the water. He did that for me when I was "knee high to a grass hopper". So, I was trying to take care of everything and that oar just grew legs. I was back there at 6:30am with my tube, floated down a couple bends and couldn't find it. Oh well, its just money ;)

BTW... We only got one small fish. I passed several getting out of there. Did you guys paddle those pontoons upstream to where you were when I went by? If so, your arms must be the size (diameter) of telephone poles!!!

the langusge doesnt bother me at all i would have said the same. we put in at parmalee and fished the brookies for a couple miles till we got to that long run that you probably saw us at. i forgot to mention that we landed a couple nice fat brookies 9 and 10 in. that 10 incher was fat and put up a real nice fight on my 7.5 foot 5-weight. ill be fishing just down from big creek tonight maybe i'll see you up there. should be good bugs. good luck if you go.. thats great your fishing with your father, my dad doesnt have the patience for flyfishing.

It must be something in the air as I had my paddles for my TU pontoon stolen from my campsite along the Manistee on thursday or friday night....oh well its just money....but as a result it cost me $70 for new oars because I had to go with a new setup because I couldn't get the sleeve style in time.....
