I managed a quick trip up Saturday night. I arrived about 9pm to light bug activity and sporadic feeding by smaller fish.

I ran into M-S member Hexfly, he and a friend were pitching streamers in the lumber, with a a couple hits and swirls to show for it. Some nicer fish were showing themselves occasionally, tight to the lumber.

I managed a couple small fish on a Partridge and Yellow wet, but got my scouting done.

A pleasant conversation with Hexfly and his buddy and nighty-night.

BTW Jeff, those were hex being dragged under by Fry or Baitfish, they were working cripples in the morning. It was nice meeting you.

5am brought brightening skys and 45deg air temps.

I worked the access with a Chart. Madonna thouroughly in the near dark and then started off downstream. The second bend down produced a nice Brookie and on the 2nd cast took a respectable Brown. One more fat little Brown and I broke off the hot streamer. I tried an Olive for a while but short strikes and refusals convinced me to tie the last Cartreuse in my box on to the leader. I was rewarded with a very well fed Brown in the 3lb range!

That fish made the day so I packed up and headed home at 7am.

P.S. I have a couple pics, but I guess I need to clear some space in my photo gallery before I can post them.

Any thoughts on the hex hatch? I wonder how the heavy waters disrupted the bottom/silt and if it will effect the timing/location of hatches.

DG, It's hard to say. Most of the marl is still in place. I think winter temps and water levels are more important for the nymphs survival. If they are there, they will hatch. I only saw a few Hex overnight, Reports have hatches sporadic all over the eastside. Still probably hit or miss.

according the web site, the water levels are quickly returning to normal on the south, like maybe 10-20% higher compared to 50% from last week.

Knockoff64 got it right....Fishing was slow. My buddy and I were throwing big, ugly streamers into structure. A few good looks were had, but not a whole lot was brought to hand.

Chase Bridge was still a little high on 6/19.

Knockoff64 - it was nice meeeting you as well. I'm glad you got a good size one before you're trip back. Greg and I fished Keystone Landing on Sunday morning. I got a nice little brookie on an Olive Bugger. Let me know if you ever want to fish Paint Creek or the Clinton.

Jeff, the I-75 corridor is to be my stomping grounds for the next few months, so I'll take you up on that.
