Nice to see you got out again. It's been awhile since I've been doing more skirt chasing than fishing. :dizzy: Hope to get out there again this week and I'll let you know how I did. It will probably be after work on Monday or Wednesday.

Hello,
I have always wanted to try fishing belleville lake but never have had the time. Hopefully i can try it something after the 4th of july. anyways Whats the best way to fish this lake for walleyes trolling or drifting? Also Being Ford lake is so close to belleville lake how is that for walleye fishing? Hopefully i can try them this summer. thanks mark

Gee,i suppose that is personal preference, we take them trolling and casting others do well drifting and the shore fisherman take them casting or still fishing. Orange or orange/gold always seemed to produce best, color wise. Ford lake is not planted, the walleyes there are natural.By this years experience i would say Belleville has the better bite, but Ford seems to produce larger eyes. Tuesday evenings can be rough on belleville, as they have a local bass tounament there..Belleville has 3 public launches(1 marina,2 DNR) Ford has only 1,ypsi twp. park....Both lakes offer a wide range of fish.

Thanks for the info, i deffinetly want to try fishing there. Maybe i can try it on July 6th or 7th or else one morning before then. I have been wanting to try fishing inland lakes around the area but just havent had the chance lately. Funny thing is i live right next to lake erie and cant fish there because my boat is too small, 12ft flatbottom with a 8hp motor. Hopefully i can get a new boat this fall and try erie and lk. st. clair until then i cant wait to try belleville and ford. When i do i will deffinetly post how it goes thanks alot

geez mine measures 16 foot 10 inches and on nice weekends or holidays the big guys blow me off even the larger inland lakes, but nice thing bout bein retired i get the weekdays!..if u do much casting or trollin and u hit either lake pick up a gold/orange wally diver(either size)..its been my best producer over the last decade....besides the eyes that lure has taken cats, perch, both species of bass, white/silver bass ,white perch, crappie and even a musky or 2........

bolo u have the same luck i do on spring mill pond there..lol..i'm not what one would call a born trout guy! I grew up limiting out on eyes, pike and bass in the a.m. and would spend the rest of the day chasin troutcause i already had my limit of warm water species...best luck i ever had on trout was chasin brookies in those 6 foot wide foot deep type creeks..or cornin the rainbows in a lake at night...hmm, for kids..u might try bruin lake(part of the half moon complex)it has good weed, decent depth..usually a fairly quiet little place.the kids can worm the panfish and you can pitch or bobber for the pike and bass..wolverine lake(commerce and glengary) launch on glengary might b a good spot lots of no wake area and no high speed boating time....has lots of panfish, eyes pike and bass..sand lake or wamplers out irish hills way may offer decent fishin also

Made my first trip out to Belleville in a while last night. My buddy and I fished from 5:30-8:00 and caught one walleye at 15" and one crappie that was 14.25"!!! I can believe we picked up a crappie trolling AND how big it was (master angler size). He took it home an vac sealed it cause he's going to mount it. As for the water there are tons of floaties in it. I think it could be plankton??? There is also a little weed growth which screwed up our lures a few times. The water clarity is pretty poor due to this. I should be out again next week sometime.
