launched at sterling with my 12 year old son.trolled for a while in 24 foot and marked a ton near fermi.couldnt get them to go. slow all over on the radio.then it picked up and we started pecking a few perch , silvers and huge sheeps.the kid wanted to fight some fish so i set up some weapons that i tied myself and drifted. we laughed like crazy as we boated fish all day.grand tally i think. 4 nice wally,20-30 sheeps(some master anglers), 6-8 silvers,a few nice perch, and a goby.could have caught more wally if we wanted to by trolling more ,but why? got enough for dinner and kept the kid interested. isn't that what fishings all about.his hands and back are so sore! he slept the whole way home. sunburned his face, but he is at the neighbors house swimming in their pond so it couldn't have been too traumatic.a few guys limited on scorpions, and some got the big skunk. it was that kind of day.right place, right school of fish. enjoy your kids while they are young Dan :yikes:

Fished this AM, pretty much the same spot. Caught one eye and a monster sheephead trolling. Switched to cast and drift. I limited on eyes by 11, others picked up a couple. All on Erie Dearies but one on a crawler harness. Nice fish 17" - 24". One big perch. Only caught two sheephead :( . One silver bass.

we also went out of sterling this afternoon. limited three people, but we had to work for them. most fish came on bouncers and crawlers in 25-26 feet of water. caught our last three fish on spoons near the bottom. lots of silvers and sheephead to keep ya busy.

stayed out by the point early and caught 20 or so decent perch and 1 -14 inch jumbo,3 8lb sheephead and 1- 20 inch eye. went out in front of fermi but didnt go out deep. stayed in 21 ft of water because of my smaller boat and didnt really mark anything. Oh well still better than work. Was using harnesses and drifting.

double trouble - Way to go, GREAT day! My hat is off to You for thinking of the Kids! This "big" Kid has been known to head to a nearby River and sharpen His verticle jigging skills on Sheepys and love every minute of it :D ! Have fun - Bob WC#253.

Agree 100%. I dont know what all the whining is about I hear on the radio about the "farm animals". We love to get into them - they are very strong fighting fish especially them huge cats. Only problem I have is that the kids want to keep em :yikes: - NOT ! Dont mean to jinx myself but I am very surprised that I have not caught nary a one yet this year and I been out many times.
Carp fishing for hogs used to be great on the Saginaw river under the Holland St bridge - darn walleyes must be eating the young cuz the fishing just aint the same
