Alright guys I’m looking for so input from some of you easterners.
I’m planning a trip over to Lake Erie put I don’t know where I should stay?
There is 4-6 of us going and I don’t know if we should go all the way to Catawba Inland or just stay in Monroe? What is your 2cents onto the deal?
We will be heading over there June 24 early in the morning and staying till June 27 and head home around noon.
Thanks
Steve

there are hotels by sterling s.p. exit 15,only 1/2 mile from launch at sterling, the parking lots look to be boat friendly, also many restaurants in area.the fishing has been decent in area, walleyes should be around to mid july before they head east to cooler deeper water.

You should have no problems catching fish in MI waters when you are going to be here. Probably should have no problems getting limits, so I can't see why you should have to head any further East than Monroe.
I will be on the water that Friday and Saturday that you will be here, and I'm sure others from the site will be out there too. You'll have plenty of help locating fish if you need it.
As for places to stay, there are plenty of hotels up and down 75, within minutes of Sterling and Bolles. If you are looking to camp, I think Sterling is the best around.
Shoot me a PM or an E-mail if you want, and I'll hook you up with my cell phone number for next week.

Hey Steve, a bunch of guys and I are also going over on Thursday evening fishing Friday through Sunday. We are all from the St. Joseph area too. I agree with everything the other guys are telling you. We are staying at the Sterling Park campground and fishing right out of there. It has always been a good time and great fishing. Handle on the radio is Horseshoe. Blue and white Tracker with a black and white beagle on board.

Thanks for the help guys. Do you guy fish strictly fish Michigan waters or do we need to pick up an Ohio license?
Horseshoe did you make reservations ahead of time at Sterling Park campground or are you just going to show up? Is the campground full at this time of year?

It wouldn't hurt to get an Ohio tag, Somedays Michigan water can be pretty murky with a slow bite, while Ohio water is clear with a good bite, Besides the fact that Ohio has a 6 fish limit and Michigan has 5. It just pays to keep your options open while you are out there. If you don't have an Ohio tag be careful, The border is easy to go over since Michigan has very little Erie water, and Ohio DNR is very, very good at checking for tags. I get checked maybe 30% of the time, Way too many times not to know wheather you are in Ohio or not. :tdo12:

I made reservations. It looked like they had plenty of open spots, but I didn't want to take the chance. Here is the web address to make reservations. http://www.midnrreservations.com/campgrounds/parkresults.cfm
I don't buy Ohio tags, but I'm sure I have been awfully close to the border before. I would wait to see what the conditions are before spending the money, but that's just me. The walleye fishing is 10 times better than it is here in the river, even when it's "slow".

I would reccomend getting a ohio license, not only does that open up the whole western basin to you, ohio waters are not that far out ,alot of guys you think there fishing in michigan are actualy in ohio.the ohio dnr is just like the ohio state troopers, they carry charge card plates with them.good luck fishing i'll be down there friday evning saturday and sunday weather permitting, right now weather looks good for the weekend.

Crawler under a buoy seems to take a lot of fish...sorry couldn't resist any longer.
I hope you guys have a great trip...I'll be thinking of you while puttin the smack down on some Lakers and Perch in Higgins.
Steve, I'm leaving it up to you and Chris to do me a favor...make Mark's head spin around at least two times by letting out some line on a reel when he's not looking-like it's getting a bite. If I can get confirmation of this happening there will be a prize awarded. Thanks and my neck thanks you...still a little sore from "Mark's Jokes". :tsk:
