I've been in the Hillsdale area for almost two years, first time out today on Coldwater Lake.

I took a business associate who is an inexperienced fisherman.

From 2:30-8:30 we landed 17 largemouth, all small (9-13 inches). Most of the activity was when the sun was beating down, things slowed down for us after 6:30 when it became very cloudy. All of the fish but three were caught with wacky rigged senkos.

Enjoyed a great dinner afterwards at the Boathouse Restaurant on the lake - they served quite possibly the best french fries I've ever had.

I'm eager to learn more about this lake.

2nd time out on Coldwater Lake.

Tough day - cool temperatures, steady northwest wind that eventually died down around 7pm. From 3:00-7:00 we landed one bass, lost 2 others. From 7:00-8:00 we landed seven bass, and lost another one. Everything caught on soft plastics, mainly Senkos.

Packed it in around 8, as there was a tournament going on and we wanted to avoid the traffic jam at the ramp.

May have been the coolest July evening that I've ever bass fished in. Absolutely bizarre weather. Several days of warm weather would really improve the bass fishing.
