walleye continue to hit on thunder bay

the walleye fishing continues to be very good on thunder bay in alpena. guys are catching limits of 4 to 10 pound walleye using #18 rapalas off north shore, grass island and sulfer island. speed is ranging between 2.2 and 2.9. most of the fish are being caught between dark and midnight. i will be out there , weather permitting, every night this week.

man, that is a great report! unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it up there for a few weeks, but hopefully I can get into at least some of that action. Also, how are things shapin up over in hubbard? i'll prolly stop on by in a few weeks a couple times.

we are starting to get a slight thermocline and a fish fly hatch, those two combined means good walleye fishing high in the water with boards.

i am headed out to thunder bay tonight. i have had three different guys call me about the fishing last night. i hope it holds. it has been really good for a couple of weeks now.

if anyone is going to be in the area this week and wants to get out there let me know. even if you just want to follow someone in and out i will help if i can.

fished thunderbay last night from 8:30 to 12:30. we got 8 walleyes, one 22" fish 6 between 26" and 28" and one 30 1/2" 10 pound pig. a friend of mine had five fish for 49 1/2# with the largest being 32". if the weather holds i will be on the water again tonight.

Are you fishing from shore or a boat? I'm heading up that way tomorrow night for the weekend to do some "work weekend" kinda stuff around the camp. I wouldn't mind getting into a walleye or two from shore if that's possible. I plan on calling Bud or Lorie at Buck's tommorow morning to get a report as well. Anyone else who knows of anyplace around Alpena I can do some shore fishing please advise! :)

Sounds good unfortunately I thinking after working around the camp all day Saturday the only evening/night fishing I'll be doing is in my dreams! :lol:
I just found out there's a wooden boat show at the Presque Isle harbor (marina) from 10am till 5pm on Saturday. I'm planning on getting up early, do a little work then head out there around noon for a while then getting back to the "to-do" list later in the A/N. I'm hoping to get an early start on Sunday, hopefully head home about noon or so. My best bet to get any fishing in may be this evening; I'm heading up later tonight and plan on stopping by the Ninth street dam to see if anything’s going on there. Good Luck to yah if you go! :)
