"Know A Kid Who Wants A Good Start In Hunting?"

The SCI State Hunter Apprentice Program (SHAP) is gearing up for this summer. The 2001 dates will be August 3-5 and take place at the Sleeper State Park Outdoor Center in Caseville, MI.

What is SHAP?
SHAP is a 2-1/2 day youth camp for kids ages 11-15 who aspire to become sportsmen and women. During the course of the weekend, the participants will recieve the MDNR Hunter Safety Program and the IBEP Bowhunter Education Program. They'll also share an outdoor camp experience with other like-minded kids, including evening campfires and a couple outdoor "edutainment" programs. The camp includes rustic cabin lodging, great meals, expert instruction, all course materials, experienced councilors, camp T-shirts, and a few extra goodies to take home. And best of all, the cost is only $70 ($35 for children of SCI- SE Michigan Bowhunters Chapter members). Camp is limited to the first 50 students, so don't delay!

sounds like a good deal.i was wondering if a few of us trappers could do a demo on trapping ?we would bring some traps and tanner fur for them to look at and show them all the wonder of trapping. carl 14

Trapper Carl~I don't know, they have a lot crammed into those couple days, but I'll ask the director. if not, I'm involved with lots of such projects. Are you available all over the state or just certain areas? I'd be happy to try to get trapping into some of our other programs. Thanks for the offer, I'll get back with you.
