I live in East Lansing during the school year and wouldn't mind skipping class now and then to catch some fish. Just wondering if anyone had any information on Lake Lansing or any other lakes in that area for that matter. Thanks

Lake Lansing has an awesome bass fishery in the summer, good for small pike in the winter, not much size to the panfish. Rose lake and Lake ovid are the only other decent sized lakes around. Rose for panfish and lake ovid for bass and panfish. I grew up in Okemos and we joked that it was the worst place in the state to live in terms of having good fishing close by.

I live 45 mins. from lake lansing and about 25 mins from lake ovid, but where is rose lake? How do you get there from US 27 going south? Is it a very busy lake or is it like lake ovid? Is the bluegill or crappie fishing any good there?
Hey sweaty, my dad grew up on lake lansing and said they used to spear huge pike in the channels :yikes: when they were kids. He said they also got a good number of big bass out of there too.
I want to go back and fish it too this summer, and see what I can pull out of there.

When I was at MSU I fished LL a few times, but actually spent many more trips to the lake scuba diving. I can tell you there are some HUUUUUUGE :yikes: finned ones in that lake. Seen them up-close-and-personal with my own eyes, or I wouldn't have believed it to be true.

See if you can get to know some of the locals who know the spots where they hang out.

GO SPARTANS :p
