Shane (Huntin Horseman) and I finally got out today in pursuit of fish. We did some driving around, and finally settled on a spot, we will call it location X, or Shane and James' super secret spot. We set up for carp, but they were in full spawn and didnt want to coaperate. We must have seen 50 jump though. The conditions were poor, or we would have went back and got the bows. After packing up to move, we passed a guy who said he was getting a few cats. He was fishing a spot that I am unfamiliar with, but we decided to give it a shot. It paid off. After about 10 mins, we had both missed a bunch of fish, and Shane had landed a nice 27" 7-8lber. We ended up with 4 fish in a fairly short period of time. We were using stink bait tipped with a crawler. The stink bait was getting hits every 3-5mins where as a plain crawler, chicken liver, or minnow would sit unscathed for about 20. We were missing a ton of fish, they were just sucking it off the sponge. We thought that maybe if we replaced the treble hook with a very sharp mid sized circle hook then it would increase our hook ups. We are planning on getting out early tomarrow morning and braving the rain again to try and get some more.

Right on.
With all the rain and rising water this weekend, my spot should pay off. Let me know when you're ready James.

Shane, when I was just about your age, we used to catch bullheads like crazy in the evenings there.

Ypsifly, I think when I get a chance to come up, Shane and I both might go. He said he would like to. I will let you know, hopefully late next week, or the week after. How does that sound for you?
We didnt get any cats the morning after, even though is still looked great. All I ended up with was a BIG rock bass, we saw a bunch caught the night before that were possably master anglers. Shane also said that a big flathead came up and took a swipe at a Hot-N-Tot that he was casting.
On the upside, I have had my cats marinating in Italian dressing since Thurs night, and I fried them up today rolled in crushed cheezits, and it was phenominal!
Walleye Mike, where were you guys throwing for the bullheads? We found a certain spot that was paying off for us, but things looked a little different Fri morning, maybe the current shifts or something. Also, oddly enough they seemed to kinda shut down as it got dark, but we only fishind till 9.
