Canton area fishing?

Need help for a friend of mine. He's new to fishing and has no boat. He is looking for places near Canton, MI that he could fish from shore or a pier. I have taken him out once in my row boat and fished gills, but he says he wants to fish for something bigger. Any suggestions?

the usual..belleville or ford lakes(both have shore access fishing) maybe newburgh(plymouth and newburgh roads)......

Are you referring to another lake or is that how you access Belleville Lake?

bellevillie lies between I-94 and huron drive stretches from haggerty road to rawsonville road.....ford continues the chain upstream back to i-94 to the old ford plant..newburgh lake is on newburgh rd(the dam) runs about 2 miles back, thru ed hines parkway..it lies between plymouth and ann arbor rds.
