I am heading to the western U.P. to do a little brook trout fishing. I know it has been wet so i was wondering how bad the mosquitos are this year. I always do a trip in mid-june to this area and the mosquitos are annoying, but tolerable with DEET . Is this year an exception? Any reports on the pesky bugs and the brook trout fishing as well would be appreciated. Thanks....

No worse than normal. Put some rocks in your pockets so they don't carry you away and wear earplugs to keep the whining from driving you insane. Headnets are good if you are not in thick brush. Speckies and mosquitos just go together, especially just before dark.

DEET lots of DEET and make sure you carry some with you to re-apply. Where in the western UP are you headed? I am going up there for my annual trip in about 2 weeks. PM if you would like. Kevin
