VanDam says stick worms are great baits when fishing is tough

MUSKEGON -- Fishing with Kevin VanDam is sort of like being offered a chance to jam with guitar legend Eric Clapton -- it is an enlightening experience. But it will also leave you frustrated, shaking your head in wonder.
I had a chance recently, for the first time in several years, to spend some time with VanDam, one of America's best-known bass pros, on Muskegon Lake. By the time we'd finished, I'd been thoroughly schooled by the Kalamazoo Kid on one of the hottest trends in bass fishing today.

You mean there are still bass in Muskegon Lake, even after it has been decimated by years of early catch and release? Amazing.

Thanks for the post Hamilton Reef. Great article. Kevin VanDam could catch fish on a spark plug. I wonder if he could outfish Mark Martin on Muskegon Lake?? That would be a cool match. Bass vs Walleye!!

Kevin is one of those guys who usually gets the biggest pike, walleye (of course), bass and almost always gets the biggest buck. If it swims or runs, he'll probably get the biggest.
