MSNBC is going to have a hunting show at 8:00pm tonight. It's going to be on big game trophy hunting. 3 to 1 says it's a hatchet job.

Shooter,

He means that the show will be edited to make the hunting community look bad, and will most likely be one sided and without objective opinion.

Did anybody else watch the show?

I was AMAZED at how it was done. It was not a "look at the rich bloody-thirsty killer" type show. It actually had some impressive interviews with reputable guides.

There were only 2 minimal cameos of HSUS and PETA and both of there comments were pretty much refuted right after they were shown. I still don't understand why HSUS is used so much. It seems to me MSNBC or DATELINE or whoever would have an interesting show in presenting the fact that HSUS is nothing but a lobby group and many of their "top" people made over $200,000.00 in salary!

Anyway, the show was mainly centered on one " trophy" hunter, and the costs involved with big game hunts in remote destinations. It covered the costs of guns, ammo, travel, guides, trophy fees, game care, importation of hides, taxidermy, the whole enchilada.

They even talked about the fact that hunters sometimes take no animals, and get nothing back money wise. No canned hunts on this one. Although they talked about the HUGE amount of money spent annually by hunters, I wish they would have talked about the pittman-robertson tax monies generation also.

All in all, I enjoyed it, and didn't have to get ticked off.

Realdecoy, I agree with everything you said. It was not a hatchet job. I too was waiting for them to mention all of the tax dollars raised. I was certain that it was going to be 60% "PETA is noble" and 40% "rich slob hunter". All in all, for a network show, it wasn't bad.

I saw the show and thought that it was well done. They could have done without the HSUS and Peta coments though.

I saw it and I was shocked......It actually showed the positive side of the hunters dollar and its relationship with conservation and peoples livelyhood that depend on hunting to make a living. I think we came out looking pretty good.
