Got up to our lake just outside of Hale. Had a good weekend on the Bass, Gills, and the Bullheads. Only had Sunday and Monday to fish and only a couple hours in the morning and then Sun night.

Sun morning after searching a while found the fish near the reeds and up shallow. The bass were on the beds, but most females where spawned out and out of the area, only males left behind, still managed 5 between 13 and 17 in. all released. That night got ready for some Bull head off the dock and ended up catching 13 nice gills and once the Bullhead moved in I cleaned 15 of them. Nice size on them.

Then monday came and it turned out to be great. I took my nephew out with me and he told me about a spot where he seen a quite a few bass the day before. It was in another reed bed. We fished from 6:30 till 9:00 and ended up catching 12 bass all between 14-16 inches again all released. I caught 5 on a 5" power shad and 4 on a floating white zoom trick worm rigged texas style. He caught his three on a texas rigged power lizard with no weight.

But the praise goes to my two nephews one is 12 and caught a 21 1/4" LM and my other nephew 15 that caught one 20 1/2" Both beutiful fish were released after some priceless photo's.

Both nephews wanted to release the fish. I guess all the times taking them out with me has paid off because both of them told me that they wanted them to be able to spawn out to make more large bass. You never know if your getting through to them untill they come out and surprise you one time.

Hey, I was wondering where you were fishing.. A friend of mine has a cabin near the Bear Store near Hale.

HALE were you on Londo lake by any chance. We had a cabin on West Londo and the fishing was outstanding, the duck hunting was also great. :)

Sounds like a great weekend Greg.
com on now, lets share that killer lake with your M.S. family :grouphug:
...not to familier with the lakes around there but we had a blast on the au sable reservoirs in Glennie over the years. Pike in the spring and huge smallies all day long on husky jerks, in the summer.
I'll have to get back there soon, beautiful area.
Continued good luck to you and the family :)

I remember when I was quite young and caught a real nice bass. My dad asked me if I wanted to keep it or let it go. I chose to let it go and felt quite good about it. I am not a strictly catch and release fisherman now, but almost all bass and pike I let go.

The lake that I was on was S. Dease.

And your right mallartone, after he let her go he came up to me and told me that he would catch her next year when she was bigger. It's a good thing when we can get the kids interested in catch and release early on. He went out later and caught 13 or 15 nice gills and I cleaned them for him, along with showing him how to skin them after I filleted them. It seemed he was more excited about that than catching the big one.

Jethro---nice to see you back here. How's the family?
