you might want to call your local bait shops, many will sell you flats of crawlers because they can usually order them through their suppliers. Their markup may be in fact cheaper than paying shipping from an online vendor. Just a thought.

I just bought a flat of 500 from Franks great outdoors in Linwood, MI. NICE crawlers. FAT ones. Skeeter :fish:

I know you have a lot of extra time in the summer, 500 to 1000 crawlers sounds like a couple years supply....especially for a guy with some extra responsibilty. :gaga:

I've bought them from a supplier to bait stores. One is near my home. Early in the year there about $25, later if we have a dry summer can be as much as $35 or more.

Skeeter, I haven't bought any in 2 years but thats what I paid then. Maybe its more now. I have 3 sources within atleast 20 miles.

I would much rather buy them from a young kid wanting to make the fair going price like I did when I was a kid. I looked and looked for a sign, for a couple weeks anyway before I bought them. Just couldn't find one. Skeeter

I only have to buy them if I run out from the ones I gathered in the garden during the spring. Usually I get enough but not always.

:) Cabelas sells them also. I bought a flat (500) from them a couple of years ago. They said 2-3 week delivery but it arrived in 5 days.

Franks has them in their garage outback. Just wondering how much they were at Cabelas? Are they pretty nice and fat??

I don't know if they charge extra for delivery or not, not too sure if shipping is included or not.

The crawlers from Cabelas were lively and fresh. Good size also. I think that I paid 40 bucks plus some shipping for 500. On a more humorous note: I put them in our RV's refrigerator after opening them to check them out. It seems that I didn't put the lid on tight enough and I had about a hundred crawlers out of the box before the next morning. Good thing that I discovered them first and cleaned it up.

Dave, a tip for you. put a light in the refrigerator, you can leave the cover off and they won't come out of the box. I am in the process of rigging a night night light on a cord and putting one inside mine now. Nelsv (hope it works!)

Was wondering how you guys feed 500 or more night crawlers :fish:

They make a special grain food, but they will eat table scraps with no problem. Seriously Skeeter

its not uncommon to go through a bunch of crawlers on LSC and Lake erie while using crawler harnesses for walleye. Between eyes, silver bass, perch, sheephead, weeds, and god knows what else, they have a tendency of getting tore up.

I don't feed them per se'. I put them in a mixture of peat and leaves from last fall. They munch on that until the wallys munch on them.

When we went to Lake of the Woods for a week with a family of 4 people, we went thru that many crawlers plus some while jigging and Lind rigging for walleye.
