Got a few the week before Memorial Day.......but in Ontario. Fished one small lake two or three days and came up with 60 between 13" and 18". Used barbless and only kept 6 or 8 for dinner one night. I've got some pics on a cd but can't figure out how to post them. Can anyone help?

Okay, finally got some pics posted in my gallery. Here's a stringer we took out one night, and before you all go crazy for keeping these beauties, here's the deal.....over three separate days we caught about 60 brookies here. We used barbless gear, so most were returned unharmed. This particular night, the guys back in camp decided it would be nice to have a brookie dinner, thus this stringer. What a ball playing catch and release with these guys....all between 13" and 18". :yikes:

Nice stringer of speckeled trout there ducky :D Wouldn't mind getting ahold of some of those beauties. Would you share name and location of lake? Looking to take a trip to Canada fishing next year, and was thinking simcoe or rice for panfish, but would love to catch some trout. Feel free to PM me if you don't mind sharing any info. Thanks....Ralph

Ralph,
There really isn't any secret to this place, and I'd be glad to tell you, except it's a little "no-name" lake way back in the brush. Honestly, you'd never find it unless I give you the topo map that shows it along with GPS coordinates, or guide you myself (hey there's an idea for a new career). Best I can tell you, it's about 2 1/2 hours NE of the Sault, about 40 miles north of a little town called Elliot Lake. We stay at an outpost cabin on a larger lake and fish for Lake Trout, then we branch out from there for specks. We go to the same place each year, and a good share of our time is spent portaging into what we call "back in" lakes that are good bets for specks. The landscape in that area is littered with little lakes, many of which have brookies. We have several lakes that consistently produce nice fish for us, but it's no picnic carrying the boat and gear back in there. But then again, that's why there are fish there. I know that didn't really help you much, but if you want to know the lodge we go through, PM me and I'll tell you. They can get you on the right track, then the work is up to you.
