We just recently completed the MWT event on the St. Clair system. We concentrated 100% of our efforts on the St. Clair River. Overall, fishing was very good. We took 55 fish total pre-fishing Thursday and Friday, and went through 15 each day for Saturday and Sunday. No hogs - we weighed about 18 pounds each day for our five best.
Areas that were hot included Algonac all the way up to Marysville. 1/2 ounce jigs tipped with either sahd bodies or worms. No live bait was required. We also hooked and landed a five foot sturgeon on Saturday out of Algonac.
Overall - Marysville, St. Clair and Marine City seemed to have the highest concentrations of fish.

We finished 27th. You needed 25 pounds each day to win it.

Griz, keep your jigging stuff handy and don't hesitate to run the extra few miles up to Alogonac or even further north. There are plenty of fish available. We noticed the fish were feeding on small lamprey's, so stick with the 4" worms on the jigs.

WOW GRIZ!!!!!! That is a big perch!! Get any pics??
The fishing should pick up down that way soon. Water is messed up from the clinton, from what I hear anyways.
What oz jigs are you you using in the river ?
no pics on the perch, forgot the camera.first time i've seen a perch peel drag though. my son is five and caught another 14 inch perch in feb right in front of the bar at the harley ramp.did talk to some fellas at work and said that north, south , and metro were the happening spots as of yesterday, although they are mainly handliners at night.but i guess if there are fish hitting handlines, they should wack a jig or harness. wondered if any of you do the crawler harness fishing after dark and if you are successful on the lake?
