A few guys have posted some good reports and details over the last few weeks. They are still fish around many of the west michigan ports. With the water warming fast, they may move out. Try walking out to the end of the pierhead at night and casting clown or blue 12 or 14 Husky jerks reeled very slow. If you have a boat try anchoring within 2 blocks of the channel. We'll put in 6-8 hours usually until 2:30 am, and it's not for the faint of heart. Good weather is the hardest thing to come by in the spring, and the real nice ones will be busy.
Good fishing,
Tim

All the ports that are producing eyes are going to be hit and miss. I've had this more than once this spring... Limit out one night in 2 hours and not touch a fish the next. Don't give up on a spot just because you hit an off night, keep plugging away. It will pay off.
Good luck,
Mitch

South Haven, Grand Haven, Holland, And Muskegon. All these ports have had reliable reports coming from them and probably others also. I know that doesn't narrow it down, but they all produce. All these guy's will tell ya it can be hit or miss. One day your a hero, next night zero. That is why they say I'm going fishing and not going catching. :D

These guys have it right. I got 1 fish my last 3 times out, but it pays off on payday:D . I'd fish at or north of Grand Haven at this point. 68 degree water at a channel to the south last night, the catfish and the sheeps have moved in big time.
What Steinfishski said...
The warm weather the past week has warmed the water up at the pierheads considerably. The cats and the sheepies are now taking over. Fished for 4.5 hours last night after waiting out a thunderstorm at the launch... and all we got were 2 kitty kats!! :(

You always have to bring me down Jim. Think possitive thoughts... It's not going to rain... It's not going to rain...

Tried Sausagetuk earlier this week and caught nary an eye. Had some excitement on a few cats and a 5lb sheepshead, but that was it.

Are there any productive ways to fish for walley out on Lake Michigan during the summer?

Are there any productive ways to fish for walleye out on Lake Michigan during the summer?
...the burning question? :bash: Wait until the lake turns over and fish any of the "drowned rivermouth" lakes. :yikes: Have had some incredible DAYS fishing inside the pierheads in late July, August, and early September....have even had mixed bags of walleye and kings. Don't seem to have much problem finding them when the water is cold on the outside. As far a Lake Michigan, would love to find out where these fish are the early part of the summer...if anyone finds out :help: , please let me know!
