Paddle power Spring can be enjoyed from a canoe or kayak

It was just what I had come for -- a chance to paddle quietly, to enjoy seeing wildlife on its own terms long before the summer crowds arrive. May is a perfect month for such endeavors.

I spent Sunday breaking in my arms for the season paddling sturgeon river sloughs up here. I chased eagles, teals, mallards, woodies, deer, herons, turtles, shallow fish, and various gulls.... wind in my face the whole time and I wouldn't have it any other way....

Last week it was Copper harbor chasing merganzers, buffleheads, canada geese, comerants, eagles, loons, and american kestrils....

Paddle on......
