I heard the weather report this morning calling for rain today, so i thought id try to get out on my little pond out before it started. It turned out to be a really crappie morning. I couldnt keep the slabs of my fly. A chartruse zonker brought at least 30 crappies to hand, a few gills, and one nice bass. My pond is a small private lake in northville, and the crappies were schooled up in about 8fow right off the dropoff. Id imagine in other small lakes they are doin the same, getting ready to move into the shallows and spawn. I had an awesome day, and it still hasnt rained!! Just fried up my catch and now im full. Ive been waiting all winter for a panfish fry. My girlfriend was a little leary of eating fish out of our lake, but after a few bites she was smiling and I think shes looking forward to my next catch. I brought a plate over to the neighbors with tartar and lemon and they too were leary at first, but they returned the plate a while later raving about how good they were. What did they think theyed taste like...fish, DUH! :woohoo1:
