Hey folks,

Just a 'troll' here going to be staying in the Lac Labelle area from June 13-19 and am looking for tips on fishing the Gratiot or any other area near this area for trout. I am taking a canoe, so can fish the bay area or local streams. I am primarily a garden hackle/spinner gal trying to convert to fly fishing, but still learning. Will be fishing the Escanaba in Gwinn on a float trip one of those days, but looking for some public access sites in the streams or tips on fishing the open water. Any tips would be genuinely appreciated. Thanks :help:

With the canoe you can try Manganese (Which is artificial lures only) for splace or brookies. Fannyho has splake and brookies also. Copper harbor is a nice paddle.

Most of the rivers around here are way to small for a canoe.

I fly fish also but be warned the streams in this area are tight... lots of tag alder and thick bush.

Good luck

In the Kewanau Penninsula there is a like that is called No Name Lake on maps. Killer brook trout fishing. My girlfriend went all the time and said that it was no fun because she caught brookies on every cast :bouncy:

Thanks for the post responses. I am not opposed to wading, as the canoe is too heavy for just me and I will have to con a friend into helping out, but this No Name Lake sounds interesting. Can you PM me on info, like the baits used (fly fishing or spinners or garden hackle?) This is my goal that week; to catch my first brookie. Have seen lotsa browns and bows; just never had a brookie. Thanks a million.:fish2:
