Angler Outreach Meetings
The OMNR invites all interested parties to their 2004 Angler Outreach Meetings. Two meetings are slated for this area and include the Oaks Inn in Wallaceburg on May 4 at 7 pm and the Windsor Sportsman Club in Windsor on May 6 at 7 pm.
“The Lake Unit has been organizing these meetings for anglers since 1998 at various locations along Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair. The meetings are open to anyone with an interest in the fish stocks of Lake Erie, Detroit River, Lake St. Clair and the St. Clair River. Anglers from Ontario, Michigan and Ohio have attended our meetings in the past.” Stated John Cooper of the OMNR Lake Erie Management Unit in London. “We have the meetings at this time of year because all the data collected by Ontario and US jurisdictions that border Lake St Clair and Lake Erie in the previous year has been analyzed and the results are ready to be shared.”
Topics for the meeting in Wallaceburg will include Lake St Clair Fish Community Goals and Objectives, Thames River walleye, update on fish diseases in Lake St. Clair, and the Lake Erie/Lake St. Clair Volunteer Angler Diary program
Topics for the Windsor meeting will also include, Status of Lake Erie walleye, yellow perch and forage fish, new 2004 and proposed 2005 Lake Erie and Detroit River angling regulations, and an update on botulism/exotic species/dead zone. MNR speakers will include John Cooper, Luca Cargnelli, and Stan Powell.
There will be ample opportunity for everyone to ask questions, make comments and offer complaints or compliments.
show this to anyone that may want to attend.
