that picture reminds me of the early 70's. ride the bike to the that river and fish for something that would pull the string hard.

I have always just used flour and water, there are a ton of great recipes out there. Some like flour, water, cayanne pepper, drop in boiling water. Also I have made ones with strawberry jello mix. Look on any search engine, most people call em boilees(sp?).

Don't laugh but,as a kid we used to fish the saginaw for carp and cats all summer long. An old timer was outfishing 2 of us at about a 4 to 1 on the carp. He had a box of wheaties :coco: and a sock. He would fill the sock with wheaties and soak it in the river and squeeze the sock into a tight ball. Then he would turn the sock inside out and make quarter size balls and form them on the hook. After he gave us some we started nailing them too. For cats nothing beats shrimp. I go to the deli at meijers and by a dozen fresh shrimp and let them sit in the sun while you fish. Break them in half and your in buisiness. The best thing about shrimp is they only catch cats and carp; no bullheads or sheepsheads.Good fishin!

We always just took a piece of bread minus the crust and mashed it into a hard ball around the hook. It won't work if you're continuously casting, but for still fishing it always worked.

I had the same problem a few years back. They guy next to me was killing them while I couldn't catch a thing using corn. So I walked over to see what he was using. He had some Kellogg's Corn Flakes soaking in a bowl of water...he would grab a handful of wet flakes, squeeze out the water, then form them into a ball around his hook.

I grew up in Old town saginaw, and skipped many a day from school down at our (fort ) If you could call it that. It was right behind the old Barret sign building, across from ojibway. There was an old tree that hung out over the water with two forks. We would shimmy out on the limbs ,and tie fishing line off the little branches, and Catch every specie in the river. We would catch Perch, bluegill ,carp, catfish, walleye. Them was the day's . Fishing was so cheap ,and easy back then. I went over the court st bridge recently, and I see they have dozed everything up ,and are gett  ing ready to build something there.
