West Michigan eyes revisited 4/27-4/28

Well DonP, Denny, and myself dodged the big NW winds changing to SW winds bullet and found the lake to be quite fishable last night. I was invited aboard Don's boat for the slaughter fest, but the fish were gone, and the water got cold.

We tried anchored and drifting all around the area without a bump, and finally zeroed in on some fish near bottom in 25 fow. Denny and I casted DJH12 and deep rogues in clown and blue/white/orange and picked up a couple. Then we made a move back into the shallow area and it was game on for a short period of time. We finished 11 for ??? and lost many fish at and near the net. Clown HJ12, HJ14 did the damage for us again with a slow retrieve.

Packed it in by 5am just in time for a shower and to get to work.:o

Great job guys, looking forward to the pictures.
I was hoping to get out thursday night, but the wind forecast doesn't look to be very favorable. I will have to see what it looks like tomorrow afternoon.

That is my best yet to date. I would think that it could be officially classified as a "HOG"! :D I am definitely going to send in for my master angler award!!

I took her down to the bait shop this morning to get her entered on the Steelheaders board (worth $50 to me if she is the biggest entered by the end of the year)... and the tale of the tape said...

33.5 inches and 11.63 lbs!! :yikes:

Luckily it just happened to be the last fish (No. 11) of the night (which was landed at approximately 2:30am.) before those wrascally Wallys decided to get tight lipped on us.

Sure wished we could have gotten that one you lost right behind the boat... it would have probably been awfully close to that.

It sure was nice to catch the evening/overnight lull in the winds as they switched from NW to S/SW for the BIG blow today. Yeah... it did start to get a bit bouncy :bouncy: towards the end of the night... oops... I mean... morning.... but I would do it all over again in a heart beat!! :D Don't ya just love it when those last minute plans come together and the weather and fish actually cooperate? :woohoo1:

Once again... a great night on the water with good friends... and hungry fishies!! :fish:

Now... when are those winds suppose to die down again? :D :D :D

wow! fantastic catch guys. i wish i knew more about those jointed raps and countdowns and such. until recently i didnt know there was a difference. been a salmon and steelhead man for a long time. this warm water and big lake fishing is all new to me and i really enjoy it and learning the new ways of fishing. thanks for sharing the stories and pics. id love to try it sometime, considering i dont sleep much at night. should be fishing! :p
