The smelt are pretty heavy in spots. Looks like it might be a good season. Been awhile since we could fill a bucket or two! :bouncy:

That's good news but I haven't seen any big numbers yet on the east end yet. In the 2 nights I went out no one had more than a few dozen in their bucket.

Good to hear. Maybe the rest of the fishing and hunting will be good this year also.

snakebit,One guy here in town had a bunch and he couldn't give them away. The people asked him if they were cleaned. They said they didn't want them unless they were cleaned :yikes:
Holy Wah! It only takes 5 minutes to clean smelt! :banghead3

"5 minutes to clean smelt".... you obvously haven't filled a bucket...

I spent the better part of Saturday "cutting and gutting"

Friday was OK up in the Keweenaw.. I got... almost enough but I had to work for each and every one of them. Run picked up about 2:30-3:00 am.

Well, you know what I mean G. Just a figure of speech, but it doesn't take too long with a good pair of scissors or small sharp knife! :fish2: :p
