Anyone know of a place that'll test a VHF Marine Radio ?
Hopefully in the Oakland county area.

I want to see if mine needs to be "tweaked", as there have been times I have questioned it's performance (other times it seem to work great).

Would ham operators use the same testing equipment ?

thanks

:help:

What kinda problems are you having(sending, recieving, ect)?

Usually I can talk to boats & ports a LONG way off just fine. On other occasions I've been told it doesn't sound very good to boats relatively close. Can't tell if it's their radio or mine.

I've checked all the usual connections/grounds/wires/antenna etc. Looks fine to me....but what do I know. No changes in the rest of the boat's electrical system to blame it on either.
Radio is a midrange unit and practically new, antennae is the same.

Are you always transmitting on high power?

Usually leave it there except in harbor, yes.

How high do you run your squelch? If run to high it can sound very distorted at close ranges. I leave mine as low as possible and can still talk long range.
