Going with this brand for my dipsey rods ,two on each side, but debating on the 12" or 17" track , Would 12" be to small for two holders?

2 would be fine for divers on a 12" plate with the multi angle fully adjustable holders. Here are some pix of my bert's setup.

You can put 3 holders on a 12" plate?

Depending on how you use them. My front 2 are in-line planer board rod holders 70 degree mounts. I angled the front one 1 position forward, and the other 70 degree holder mounted straight. I use the fully adjustible holder for a 3rd board rod or for dipseys. I have one other rodholder on the downriggers giving me plenty of flexibility depending on how I will be fishing. It's only a 14 footer so space is very limited.
My setup works like a charm, just need 1 more fully adjustable holder for the third dipsey rod.

Most triple setups from big jon, tite lok, etc.. are only 12" wide or so, so yes, you can fit 3 in 12" If you have the room, go with the longest track sections you can fit. It will give you more flexibility later.
