double trouble
04-08-2004, 06:21 AM
took the new ship out for the first time yesterday. was a little hard starting, but got it going.after a 10 minute warm up to get the fogging oil out tried shifting into gear and it stalled out a couple times.got it going and took it upriver and fished , when i tried to start it later she would fire but not catch right away. after a few tries it would catch , but i would have to very gently feather the throttle down to shift or it would stall. other than that it ran very smooth.any ideas? i did not install new plugs yet. could it be something simple like carb cleaner? is there an enrichment on the carb for shifting? I'm sure i can fix it ,I just need to be steered in the right direction. thanks Dan

Definitely get new plugs! You may have fouled them out during
the initial start up. Once soaked with gas their not worth fooling with.

When ever I start a 2 cycle after being fogged, I always replace the plugs with new ones after the burn off and I would never venture to far with only one set.
