Launched from Wyandotte at 6pm and jigged for a little over two hours until almost 8:30pm. Fished in front of BASF, 500 Club and the steel mill, with no hits. Lots of guys at the launch returning from tournament pre-fishing, most with decent sized fish. Most boats I talked to had fish. SW wind of up to 10mph made boat control tough. Air temp started at 59 degrees, dropped to 56. Water temp was 40.5 degrees, clarity was 18" at best, clear water was near shore on the American side. Mid stream and towards Canada was chocolate milk. I think the water needs to get a little warmer and a little clearer, but still had a good time. Boat functioned perfectly, that's always a good thing! ;)

The guy at the launch said a 14 pounder was brought in last night, from close to the wall at BASF. What a fish!

p.s. Dip Net bait shop wasn't open. The Ecorse launch was open but the bait shop was closed. Wyandotte bait shop and launch were open.

Alot of the fish may still be in the smaller tribs spawning. I hear the Huron is pretty full right now. Seems the water flows and temps during this funky spring held the spawning runs slightly later (or probably more normal but later than the past few years) this year. That would probably explain the 14lb'er too. A big female looking for a place to spawn.

Either way, glad to see you got out. Things should be starting to take off soon as the hungry spawners enter the big waters again.

Fishbomb and I were out jigging from 4 to 7. Fished the same areas and came home with one 5lb-er caught at the steel mill in 22ft.
The water clarity was poor but better than what The Canadian side looked like....awful muddy.

Good luck if you go.
