ahasiec,

Another option is to use a trolling bag. I have a 17 foot Lund with 90hp Honda, and a trolling bag gets me down in the low 1mph range, however steering is greatly influenced by the bag.

I am getting a 9.9hp gas kicker, which I am confident will get into the low-mid 1mph range. Anything much above 9.9hp - 15hp gets to be a heavy motor for what the intended purpose is.

Kroppe, or anyone else.......I just got a new drift bag, and I'm curious as to how it affects your steering. The directions that came with mine said tie the front about in the middle of the boat, and run a line off the back of the bag to the rear cleat. Hanging off one side like that, I would imagine it would pull you sideways a bit. Then on the same day at the launch, a guy says just let it run out the back about 15 feet, and it won't affect your steering. Seems like it would affect your fishing line presentation tho, so I just shook my head O.K. and went on my way. Didn't mean to send your original question off the chart ahesiac, but I'm sure we'll get back to it.....I hope.
