I talked to a guy at bowling last night, I bowl at Detroit Edison, and asked him about the "hot water" situation. There were some reports of temperature readings being consistent all across the river, meaning the hot spot wasn't there. I have conformation that rumor is true. Last Friday pump unit #9, the main water pump used for cooling, failed. They are currently in shutdown mode, and not pumping any hot water into the river. They expect to be up and running in a week.
Also many of you may have seen a freighter at the plant over the weekend. Well there conveyor that brings the coal from the train tracks is also down for belt replacement. They say there will be a boat there every other day, to keep coal supply up. They are going to be there frequently because it takes 3 ships to equal the carrying capacity of 1 train. I don't know if that is going to put any affect on the fishing over there since the ships come from the north end, but we'll see.
