Blue Water Bait & Tackle charges $3.50 a doz, but you get a decent count. Now for the good news, Boris's Market, or Anchor Bay Party store, at the corner of M29 and Anchor Bay Drive, just started selling minnows again for $1.50 a doz. I asked them about the low price, & they said they just like to be freindly with there neighbors in the area. I kinda respected that way of thinking. However, they said their supplier is a retired gentleman that nets his own minnows in Algonac, then sells all of them to the party store. So there may be a reliability issue, depending on how the old dude is feeling. Might be worth checking out, it's 2 miles from BlueWater.

and you'll never meet nicer folks than Boris and his wife...

I agree with you Mark, but I have heard different. That doesn't matter to me one bit though. Their daughter is quite stunning, to say the least. And I mean that with all due respect!

We used to fish at the Harson's Island ferry back when they allowed it (1990) at night. We used to get our minnows at Boris'. We wanted to get the bigger ones that he had. So he let
us net our own and dig out the ones we wanted and then charged us accordingly. Definitely a class guy... What time does he open???

Not sure when he opens, but with the renewed bait sales, it's probably pretty early.
You can still fish at the ferry, but they'll only welcome you after about 10 pm. I did quite well there last summer, showing up at about midnite, catching nice perch under the spotlight (the only time I've caught perch at night) and a few walleye casting jigs in the wake of the ferry as it pulls out and heads across the channel.
One of the better shows, is the Clay Township police that park in the lot there about 2am and shackle up the younger island partiers on their way back to the mainland. Kind of a sneaky police tactic, but if you voice your opinion about it, you'll probably be wearing bracelets too. By the way, that ferry fishing gets pretty decent about May 1.

P.S....Ferry operators appreciate it if you leave early by about 5am also. Had the boat captain mention to me last summer, that if the general population saw people fishing in there during any daylite hours, the place would turn into a zoo in a hurry. It was kinda cool fishing there last year at night. Every time the boat would come back in from the island, the Capt and his mate would ask how we were doing on the fishing. Seemed like pretty friendly folks.

I forgot about Mackies. That lady that dips is a bit tight with the count. Conner, you say they're only $2.00 a dozen? I don't see how Blue Water can sell a one at $3.50 a dozen. Unless location is everything!
