It amazes me that with all the intelligent, well educated, and articulate members that make up these forums(myself admittedly not included), why do so many political topics seem to boil down to a "my johnsons bigger than your johnson" type mentality?
Why do so many judge a politician by what he or she can do for them? Where is it written that they are supposed to do anything for anybody?
Isn't their function in this great constitutional republic to defend our constitution? The constitution provides limitations of the power granted to the government, not limitations of freedoms of the people.
Shouldn't our politicians be judged by their actions pertaining to their oaths of office? If not what's the reasoning for having the oath?
And if our rights are subject to the whims of politically correct legislation, what purpose does the BOR or our amendment process serve?
I'm probably not in a class with most on these forums when it comes to education, knowledge, or my ability to express myself in type, but I like to think I've got my share of commonsense. And commonsense, along with compassion and morals are things that if you didn't get from your parents, you certainly won't get or inject into others with legislation. Yet they keep trying, guess it does get them reelected.:)
