Be there with my dad on Saturday. I believe this show is better than the outdoorama. I only wish this one was a little longer.

I'll be there on Saturday. One thing I'd like to see at the Deer Spectacular is more Michigan hunters giving seminars. We seem to get too many seminar speakers that kill lots of big bucks in lightly pressured areas, then they proceed to tell us how it's done. I heard one guy ask John Sloan how high he puts his treestands. John replied that 10-12 ft is usually ok. Not where I hunt. Our deer get a lot more hunting pressure and they do look up. I'd like to see some of the out of state big buck hunters come to Michigan and see how many big bucks they kill. I'll bet it won't be many!

Mike the problem I have seen with these guys is that they have sponsors to pay for their leases and their pay checks. These guys arent just hunting and guiding themselves. They hunt where they are guided and pay top dollar. If Greg Miller wanted to come to Michigan and shoot a big buck, HE WOULD. He would find a guy that has DEER Paradise and put up the BIG MONEY!!

It is that simple, in my opinion.

My point is that the advice often given at the seminars won't necessarily work where I hunt. If these experts had to hunt under conditions similar to those that most of us have to hunt, they probably wouldn't fare any better than the rest of us IMHO. Guys that are consistently sucessful on big bucks in Michigan must use special tactics because of the hunting pressure and small number of mature bucks in the population.

Fred Abbas does it every year. He hunts private ground. He leases, but so do most people now a days. No fences, but still kills an above avarage buck every year. There are BIG bucks around, just not behind every bush. At most hunting camps I know, there is always the tale of " The Big One " that's still running around. This guy targets that specific buck and hunts only him. That's a whole different breed of deer hunter tho. My point is, there are BIG bucks in abundance, just look in Woods-And Waters in December. You just have to be picky and change your tactics a bit.
Stae ground holds it's share of nice deer too.

In my opinion, Fred is the best deer hunter Michigan ever put out.
His seminars are well worth the time to seek out.

Thunderhead, Fred Abbas is a very good deer hunter and he is very helpful when it comes to sharing information. I'd also like to see some other successful Michigan hunters share their tactics at the Deer Spectacular.

Ed Spin, I stopped by your booth twice on Saturday. The first time, you were MIA. The second time, you were explaining food plots to a food plot newbie. I did purchase a bag of your brassica mix and will try it later this year. I attended Greg Miller's seminar. In the adjacent room, a religious group was holding a prayer breakfast. They were so loud that Greg had to stop many times or we wouldn't have been able to hear him. We got religion and deer hunting advice at the same time. It was a unique experience to say the least.

I heard it was very funny at Millers seminar, but was farily distracting. My brother went to the later seminar.
