Thanks for that tip!

I was just looking through all my spoons and noticed that most of them needed a little cleaning. I didn't want to try any Brasso or anything like that thinking the chemical smell may stick.

Looks like I found a project for this weekend:) .

I've heard the same thing for shining a penny. I think that I heard it was the vinegar.

Either the vinegar or the acid from the tomatos probably does it. Either way thanks for the tip.

Once you get them shiny and dried put a thin layer of 2 ton Devcon epeoxy on it with your finger, youlle never have to shine em again.

Letting them sit in a glass of Coke does the same thing, you just have to wash them afterwards to get the stickiness off.

i would think the ketchup would do it, ya ever drive by a ketchup plant? the smell alone would take the paint off a house, it damn near singes your nose hairs! LOL.

Im convinced that coke is the best way! Not phosphoric acid (or whatevers in there) because it doesnt do as well. I saw this on Mythbusters. They were shining pennies..

I thought I'd tell you why I like the coke one ;).

Save money, just use white vinegar.
a buffing bonnet on whatever powertool you have to drive it will make them sparkle. If needed you can put a little jewelers rouge on the bonnet. I use 10" buffing wheels on a bench grinder.

Soft Scrub works great also, a lot of people worry about the chemicals leaving sent, but its never been a problem for us.
