I purchased my first Mason Leader line and now see why it is recommended for handlining. I never used anything above 12 lb stren before and had no problem tying the lures or making leaders but this Mason line is something else. Being so rigid I am wondering what are the best type of knots to use in tying leaders and also to lures. :) Thanx for all the help you folks are giving to this beginer at handlining. Think Spring!!!

I USED TO USE MASON BUT SWITHED TO VANISH IN 20LB. I THINK THE BEST KNOT IS A PALMER SUPER STRONG 90% OF THE LINE STREGHT.

I like to use the palomar also. I tried the Mason line for Muskie leaders and it was tough to cinch down the knot. If you have this problem, try soaking it in hot water for a bit before you cinch it. WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH EVERYBODY TYPING IN CAPS? ;)

Mason is a brand name although I use the term to basically cover a braided dacron line. Originaly used as tip-up line.
...found a Dacron "trolling line" @ Gander mountain today.
I'm using Mason now but I really liked the color of this particular line.
It's called green dot which is white with small green flecks in it.
Looks like it'd blend in nicely.

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH EVERYBODY TYPING IN CAPS? ;) [/B][/QUOTE]

Many people do not understand or have not been exposed to the etiquette of chat forums. Typing in caps is typically thought to be rude. When doing so the author is thought to be expressing anger or superimposing their opinions on the readers of the thread.

However, it no longer bothers me as much as the spelling. Using the words "there" instead of "their", or "than" instead of "then". Or like using "palmer" instead of "palomar". Where were they during English class.

Of course, it would help if the forum renewed their spell checker. But, that is another story.

Lighten up dude, this isn't an exam and MOST of don't grade each other on our spelling or knowledge of the written word.

I am switching to Mason Leader line this year. Tired of twisted line in the night.

Hey Eddie, try Seaguar’s florocarbon. I think you’ll like it better than Vanish but it is more expensive. :)
