o'K, I GIVE, A POST SAID THEY USE SNUBBERS. I HAVE SEEN THEM IN THE STORES AND HEARD THEY USE THEM WHILE TROLLING. THAT IS THE EXTENT OF MY "SNUBBER KNOWLEDGE." HELP ME OUT WITH THIS ONE ALSO. WHEN SOMEONE LIKE MYSELF HAS BEEN AN INLAND LAKE FOR PANFISH, PIKE, BLUEGILL FISHERMAN THIS IS ALL NEW TO ME WANTING TO FISH THE GREAT LAKES AND ST. CLAIR RIVER. FOR WALLEYE AND SALMON. ALSO I SAW WHERE ONE HAS TO HAVE A SPECIAL LICENCE FOR MUSKY. IS THAT TRUE?

I'm not sure about the Muskie thing but I often use snubbers handlining especially when I'm tournament fishing. I put a 6 inch snubber on the front end of each leader. So basically clip the snubber to your shank then your leader to the snubber. It really helps absorb alot of resistance from the hooks pulling out of them hogs especially on the short leaders.

Parson - Unless the DNR has slipped something new in for the new licenses, You don't need any thing special for fishing 'Skis. Bob WC#253.

Gander Mountain & Meijers sell snubbers.
When trolling with lead-core or fireline or even floro-carbon they help relieve the shock of the strike also.Steelhead & Coho will strike so hard that they will snap the line sometimes if there is no stretch.Coho's like to bounce and snap lines too.
I agree with mudpuppy also.

It's basically just a short length of sugical tubing with eyes on both ends. It does have line inside the tubing that is longer than the tubing itself to help eliminate excessive stretch. It is used as a shock absorber.
