anybody know if the run is started in Omer?
a little early yet. usually last week of march first of april. great place to take your kids cause they can keep busy. last year i fished up off of state road for steelhead but they weren't there yet but i must have caught at least a hundred suckers on yarn eggs.

i drove up yesterday, river is really high and dirty. lots of big chunks of ice all over the area where the netters usually set up. nobody in sight. looks like at least a week/ten days before anything much is going to happen.
also went to augres launch. shelf ice all the way up the jetty to the end, then solid? ice as far as the eye could see.

Usually they start with some early ones the third week of March and peak around the last week of March and First week of April.
I'll be up there one of those weekends probably with my nephews. It's a great place for the kids to have a good time catching as many fish as they want.

Thanks for the input, looks like next week I'm coming down with the flu or something so I can go fishing.

Does anyone know when the official kickoff for the Omer Sucker Festival is? I may be dating myself and it been a while since I've been to Omer for this but is there still a parade and party? Do we have any M-S'ers in Omer or close by? I seem to remember something about the first weekend in April? Thanks in advance! :)

well, I did not get a chance to go to Omer on Sunday, because my fishing buddies' wife went into labor and she knew we had plans and everything.

Omer is about 20 minutes south of the singing bridge. It's pretty much a sure thing every spring. Last year we went after a big rain and fished in muddy water for a couple of hours. I never went more than a few casts without a hookup. I even hooked a big walleye in the mouth on the ole kitchen sponge. I have no desire to put a sucker in my vehicle, but they are fun to catch. I'm looking forward to trying the Flint River for suckers. Have any of you local guys done any good on them?
Also, do the white bass make it up here? I usually make a trip to the Tib in May to give them a go, but I would like to try it around home if it happens here. I've got a place on the river and I'd like to find out what' in there during the year other than walleye, smallmouth and carp. Let me know.
