What does everyone think about the new Bass Pros Shop in Auburn Hills

Was there last weekend and thought the place was ok. Probably a bit more stuff than Jays. Indoor gun shooting range that Jays doesn't have. In some areas I think Jays has more stuff. The fly fishing shop was a little lame. The big fish tanks with all the native fish in them were cool.

I've been there a number of times. I bought a pair of redhead fleece lined cargo pants. I don't know if I've worn anything so comfortable and warm. After having to shop for fishing items in this area for so long, you basically know where to get everthing they have, only cheaper. (execpt the clothes) I will admit, they came in real usefull while I was Christmas shopping.

P.S. Me and the kids really like the tank, especially on the side that looks like you're putting your hand right inside of the tank. (because of the curvature)

I have been there a couple of times and thought that they had just about anything related to the outdoors that one could want. I haven't purchased much from there but I did purchase various spools of tippet material and thought the price was great. I purchased the Hobbs Creek brand for around $1-1.50 for a 25 yard spool. Other brands I usually purchase (Cortland, etc.) usually run about $3-3.50 for a 30 yard spool. I haven't noticed any ill effects from the cheaper tippet. The fish tank I would agree is the best part of the store for me. It would be neat if they could find a way to have some trout in that little stream they have going though. :)

I really enjoyed Outdoor World. I live about 5 miles from Jays. Outdoor world had as good or better fishing selection and better prices. However they didnt stock as much icefishing as Jays does.

Hey,I hear they are putting Cabelas in the Monroe area. Supposed to be one of the biggest in the country. Now, if they just werent 2 and a half hours from my house.... Also Jays is building another store in Gaylord off I-75. Gotta catch those guys heading for the U.P. you know.

Almost forgot.... fish tank was awesome. So was the other interior decorating.

I have been to the store 2 times and while I'm impressed with the size and the fish tanks, I find that they have poor quality and high prices. Both times they did not have what I needed. I was looking for smoke wood chips. And I also went for replacement blades for my hand auger. I will not go back. Lure prices are very high, poor quality snap swivels. I was not impressed! Don't waste your time unless you need to see fish swiming in the tank.

I went there, and found it to be okay. The fish tank is cool, and yes they do have lots of stuff. I too thouht the fly department was a little lame, and trying to find someone to talk who really knew what they were talking about was kinda tuff. If you really want to see something go to the one in Springfield, Ms. Its as big as any regular mall, and everything for the outdoors known to man, I think.

It may help to inform the manager of the changes he could make to better suit your needs.In the retail world today the turnover on help is high.Show them proof their prices are high and they most likely will beat it.
It's hard to beat mail order and pay the light bill.I myself shop at the little guys shop,he has to eat also,plus they know me by my name.

There are trout in that stream as of last week. Who said "trout don't live in no ugly places!"
That stream has to be a handfull. Keeping the water clean and cold enough to support trout is amazing.

I enjoyed watching the trout swim around in the stream. I also liked using the indoor shooting range, price is reasonable. They could use a larger variety in the bow department. Sometimes you can find items on sale, but for the most part items are high priced.

If you can get past how big it is, how nice the place is decorated and the large fish tank and trout stream you will find it is just like any other outdoors store. you have to shop for a deal. This is not an outlet store like most at this "outlet mall". Watch the sales because they do have some great ones. I live only 5 miles from this place and have been there many times.

Some people complained that they did not have exactly what they were looking for. Most stores, this one included, do not. But this should be on you must see list if you are in the area.

I like it. I think it's great that it's located in a regular mall. I think it might help us outdoors people be accepted a little more by the general public. They can see that all of us aren't beer swilling rednecks.

I was there last weekend and I thought it was ok. The one at Gurnee Mills in Chicago is a lot better. After seeing the fish tank at the Chicago store, which is about 2 1/2 times bigger, I thought the one at Auburn was a little lame, the Lunkquarium at Lunker's in Edwardsburg is about the same size. I agree, the flyshop is way lame. Hopefully the Cabela's shop that will open in Detroit this fall will be better.
