Md. won’t provide fish for rodeos
The state said it can no longer afford to raise fish for use in the youth contests.
CUMBERLAND, Md. — Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources says it will stop raising fish for youth-oriented “fishing rodeos” after this year.
The agency will save $15,000 to $20,000 annually by ending its participation in the events, which are scheduled at 85 locations statewide this spring and summer, fishery managers told the Cumberland Times-News.
