I'm looking at investing in a handheld GPS (without FRS) and I want it to be able to display topo maps and depth contours of lakes. It's going to be used mostly for kayaking rivers, fishing and hunting.
How much memory do I really need to download a sizeable 1:24,000 map. An example would be covering the length of a river that I'm kayaking down.
Another concern is third-party software compatability and possible memory expansion if needed at a later date.
