Heres a 6.5 #er, 27"laker caught out of higgins this afternoon.Mountainman caught one of similar size(smaller)LOL. Both were caught on the sand-digger jig from Barnacle Bills shop, they were tipped with a minnow head and tail.In 65 fow.out from Big Creek on the west side of lake...FLAGS UP!!! Gotta Go.

Greaseball, is that what ya get from lake huron ?;) If more guys really thought that out of Higgy,Torch and Chrystal...What a fishery we would have up here LOL. I would rather eat the `bows and browns for sure. But these lakers are far better eat`n than the great lakes(lakers).

Well someday I`ll have to come there and try those fisheries for lakers. As far as Lake huron lakers I have caught plenty of those and have no desire what so ever to eat them.
So are those inland lake lakers greasy and what color is the flesh of them?:) ;)

You need to try the siscowet lake trout in lake Superior. They are a totally different fish. Nice dark red meat, they taste great!

Higgins lake trout are very good if ate fresh, however I found freezing them takes away the firmness and taste. I do not freeze them, only catch what you can eat within that day or the next. Whitefish on the other hand from Higgins is the best fish I have ever had!

I`m with you there, not to many guys I fish with eat those big pond lakers...If we do its a smoked laker. IMHO eating fish beggins with preparing (fillet,skin,de-bone) them. These inland lake lakers are awesome tablefare. The meat is a dark yellow, not orange like a coho , there firm, and not slimy. Like I said earlier, if more people compare them to huron, mich, (lakers) we would have a tremendous(sp) inland-lakes fishery!
