Safe ice on the Saginaw River for Sat. 2/28?

Just checking to see what the ice conditions are on the Saginaw River currently and whether some of you locals think there will be safe ice on Sat. 2/28?

I put my stuff away, but there was still people out yesterday.
There will be alot of run-off Friday, and don't forget the river ice melts from the bottom so it can look good from the top.

I would probably avoid it..The creeks have been opened up for a few days now, and the river is next..However the Tib still was not open as of this a.m... and that usually opens b4 the Saginaw...Be safe...Tom

Stay away from Z bridge...Buddy of mine that lives up there said that they had a rescue on mon or tue..

My advise STAY OFF!!!!! with the river being so low from lack of rain over the years When the run off hits it eats the ice alot faster than anybody knows!! Be safe! M.

Crossing over the Sag. leaving work on Thurs. (2/26) by the Arena there were 20 - 30 people up/down the river. Looked fine from the top, always does though ! Be careful !!!

Thanks for all the info, doesn't sound promising, so I won't be coming over. Probably go hunt for antler sheds instead.

If I went out, I'd go to the mouth of Sag. River in Bay City and go out off end of road there. You can get on to bay, and stay to left of channel. This current should be sending alot of fish into this area for the spring run. Stay to left of light standard and you should be fine. Quite a little walk to get to deeper water. Also this time of year, it should start picking up off mouth of kawkawlin River.

Went out thursdayevening north of zbridge off of melborne road. Ice is not very good at all. Someone fell through up to there waist he got out alright. Had to stay in close to shore. there was open water out in the middle. By wickes park ice is still pretty good...just have to take spud and be very carefull. After today I'd call it quits for icefishing.

fished independenece bridge this morning still 1 ft of ice maybe 100+ guys out. WE got a late start so we didnt do well. Didnt see many fish on the ice. I hoping she will hold on for another week!!!
