We got up to higgins on 2-21-04 at about 930 am. From about then until 12, we got about a dozen 6-8 inch perch, no keepers. We also got about 5 smelt, i caught a monster smelt, about 81/2 inches, too bad there wasn't a smelt division;) . Then, we set up for smelting at about 6 o'clcok. Right before sunset-to right after sunset, they were confined the first 10 feet off bottom, then, quickly went up, until they covered every water column. It was very hot from 730 till 930, then, they just didn't bite that well, left at about 10. Ended up with 120 betwen two people for the night. All good size, averaged 7 inches.....

We went up to the Soo, tried to fish a local lake, but, there was over 4' of snow, so, decided not to go. The report was that off of brush point was good for whitefish, about a dozen a trip, with an occasional steelie, said there was alot of current, so, you need alot of shots to get down there, didn't want to fish in the current, so, didn't go out there. Other than that, no other reports.

We came back to higgins on the night of the 23rd. Didn't get out until 8 o'clock, and didn't bring a shanty, so, we only got about 10 in a hour. Smelt came on hali jigs with chucks of waxies. We didn't have an underwater light, BTW. We were fishing off our beach, off the north end, about 2 miles from smeltville, in 45 fow........

sideshow,

i have the same flasher. I have had it for three years and i have had no problems with it. I severed the transducer cable at the end of last season but i managed to fix it and it works great. The only things i dont like about it are that you get interferance badly if you are fishing next to someone with another flasher and when you are fishing in really deep water you loose a lot of sensitivity.
