While fishing on Muskegon Lake Sunday Fishfoote and I spotted this 'ice rig' heading back in. It was far away and the pic is grainy but you'll get the idea.

We looked at it through bino's and it was a long sled with a seat mounted high to the rear. Behind the operator's seat was a set of 'forks' and a motorcycle tire & wheel. Some how mounted on top of the forks was some type of motor.

It was not fast .... but it scooted right along. Anyone know anything? Anyone seen this outfit?

I know a couple people who have built ice bikes (motorcycles) in the past. The way they describe it it always seemed like a daunting task attaching all the spikes to the tires. The end result is very cool though if done right...

I think in some places they still race ice bikes. I remember the first time I saw that was on that cool 1970's steve mcqueen movie, "on any sunday"...

Rat-Man,

There were some shiny spots out there and some spots with a slight amout of slush (1" or so). The ice is a good foot thick so no problems. Actually the warm spell last week helped as it melted almost all of the snow & slush down. Sure made it easier to pull the shanty out!!!
