What's up all? This is my first post on this website, second time visitor. I must say, this is a pretty interesting site. I love fishing forums, especially with the weather we've had here this winter. I'm not much of an icefisherman, snow and ice and cold air isn't my thing, but come springtime when the ice and snow thaw out and the temps are at least decent I'll be out there, probably around April Fool's Day. So where's everybody from, where do you guys fish, and what are your favorite species to fish for? I want to get to know everybody. To tell you a little about myself, I'll be 25 in a couple of weeks. Got back into fishing a couple years ago, after being out of it for a few years due to time constrants, and I enjoy and love fishing more then I ever did, and I used to really love it when I was a kid. I live in Lambertville, MI, which is about a mile or so from the OH-MI border and I'm just a few minutes away from Toledo, OH. I live about an hour south of Detroit, and my fishing spot is about a twenty five minute drive heading east of me, in Luna Pier, MI, which is along the western shoreline of the Great Lake Erie. The last couple years I've done a lot of night fishing, from spring until fall (like I said I'm not much the winter person) and while night fishing I would fish for catfish and bullhead. I love to bottom fish at night, and my work schedule allowed me to do so, now I'm working 10PM to 6AM so I'll be doing a lot of fishing for bass where I fish after I get out of work. Man, I'm writing a novel. If you want to yack it up feel free to reply on here, and thanks for taking the hour and a half it took to read this :)

WARNING!!!! THIS SITE IS DANGEROUS TO YOU FREE TIME. Welcome to the best site on the net and the best people. Think about going to an ice fishing outing. We might not catch many fish there but we eat good and have fun. I'm sure somebody will lone you a pole. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't go fishing all winter. CYA.

Welcome rockinmichigan !

You've done it now. You'll be addicted shortly. But don't worry, it's a healthy addiction. :)

I live in Rochester Hills (about 20 miles N. of Detroit). I too didn't do much fishing for a long time until I found this site about three years ago. Actually for about 10-15 years the only fishing I did was in the Fall for Salmon off of the southern Huron piers. But I found this this site in December '02 and joined in January '03. I've been here almost constantly ever since. When I joined, my fishing arsenal consisted of two rods, one tackle box, and a landing net. Now, at last count I'm up to I think at least THREE tackle boxes, 11 rods, two nets, TWO boats, and don't even get me started on the icefishing arsenal I've collected too since joining.

Keep an eye on the outings forum. We do outings year 'round. They're a great place to meet other members and have a great time. Well I'm getting a bit long winded also so I'll cut it off here.
I'm sure we'll be chatting again soon.

Thanks for the welcome everybody. I am addicted to fishing forums, there's a couple others I hit up often and I'm finding myself liking this more and more. jpollman, I'm about an hour south of Detroit, so I'm not too overly far from you. Where do you usually fish, Detroit River?

I've got a nice little Bass lake close by my house. Other than that, I generally fish Lake St. Clair for the most part. And then Southern Huron ports in the Fall. Never really fished the Detroit River much but I might have to give it a try sometime.

I haven't fished the Detroit River, but I hear they get some good walleye runs and other fish too bite pretty good. Where I fish is along Lake Erie, and there's a good variety right there, like northerns, walleye, yellow perch, large and smallmouth bass, rock bass, white bass, carp, gobies, sheephead, channel and flathead cats, bullhead, caught a bowfin there last year. That was a trip! :D
